Arsenal could be in line for considerable transfer windfall amid major takeover talks

Arsenal have reportedly been assured that they will still receive the £8m owed by Derby County for the transfer of Krystian Bielik back in 2019.

The Polish midfielder, who initially joined Arsenal as a youngster from Legia Warsaw in 2015, was allowed to join the Championship outfit just over two years ago in what was then a club record deal for the Rams as they attempted to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Derby’s big spending has certainly not worked out, both in respect to Bielik and in general terms.

The midfielder, while hugely talented, has been blighted by serious injury issues in his time at Pride Park. He has had two long-term knee problems - the second of which he is still recovering from - and has made just 34 outings in all competitions for the East Midlands outfit.

Meanwhile, the club’s financial woes have continued to worsen and they have recently entered administration and been docked the mandatory 12 points by the English Football League.

Despite that, Arsenal have reportedly been assured that they will receive the full amount of the Bielik transfer fee despite the dire straits that the club currently finds themselves in.

According to The Telegraph, the Rams have paid £2m worth of instalments for the former Arsenal man thus far, with £8m still outstanding.

It has been reported that Derby were late in sending a further instalment to Arsenal earlier this month before the situation was resolved with the governing body of the league.

The club is currently up for sale though and administrators Quantuma have reportedly added the debt of Bielik’s move to any potential takeover, meaning any new owners will foot the bill.

Quite when Arsenal will see the outstanding amount for Bielik remains to be seen but it will surely be of some comfort to Edu and Mikel Arteta that the club’s transfer funds are set for another boost at some point in the future.
