Arsenal confirmed XI vs Crystal Palace as Arteta welcomes back Pepe in formation switch

Nicolas Pepe returns to Arsenal's starting line up for their Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at the Emirates.

The Ivorian is the only change from the 0-0 draw with Brighton before the international break and comes in for Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Pepe's return means that there is a formation switch for the Gunners who go to a 4-3-3 instead of the 4-2-3-1 deployed at the Amex as they seek to find a long-term solution in the absence of the injured Granit Xhaka.

Thomas Partey is at the base of the midfield, while Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard operate in front of him as 'free eights.'

It's not exactly sure which side each winger will be starting on at the moment, however, it is assumed that Saka will be on the left with Pepe on the right, despite the England international's impressive displays in the latter role.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang captains the Arsenal side in front of two of his predecessors - Mikel Arteta and Patrick Vieira - on the touchline.

At the back the Gunners are unchanged again with Aaron Ramsdale continuing behind a back four of Kieran Tierney, Gabriel, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu despite some concerns over the Japanese international's travelling time during the international break.

There is a spot on the bench meanwhile for Gabriel Martinelli despite Arteta suggesting that the Brazilian might be a doubt for today's game with an injury.

Arsenal starting XI vs Crystal Palace: Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tierney; Partey; Smith Rowe, Odegaard; Saka, Pepe; Aubameyang.
