Arsenal confirmed line-up vs Nurnberg: Turner makes debut, Pepe starts, Gabriel Jesus benched

The Arsenal line-up to face FC Nurnberg this afternoon has been confirmed, and Matt Turner makes his first appearance following his £4.5m summer transfer from New England Revolution.

Six days ago, the Gunners began their pre-season schedule with a 5-1 win over Ipswich Town in a behind-closed-doors training match at the club's London Colney training base, with Eddie Nketiah the star of the show as he helped himself to a first-half hat-trick.

And the new Arsenal no.14 has been chosen to lead the line once again as he is joined in attack by Nicolas Pepe and Reiss Nelson. Meanwhile, there's a start in what appears to be an unfamiliar central defensive role for young full-back Reuell Walters as he partners Pablo Mari.

Hector Bellerin starts at right-back, Kieran Tierney makes his first Arsenal appearance in over 100 days, whilst the midfield trio consists of Albert Sambi Lokonga, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Emile Smith Rowe.

Gunners supporters will have to wait until the second half to get a first glimpse of Gabriel Jesus as he's been named on the bench alongside fellow summer signing Marquinhos as well as Gabriel Martinelli, Folarin Balogun, Mohamed Elneny and Charlie Patino.

Arsenal XI vs Nurnberg: Turner; Bellerin, Walters, Mari, Tierney; Lokonga, Maitland-Niles, Smith Rowe; Pepe, Nketiah, Nelson

Following the conclusion of today's friendly and pre-season training camp in Germany, the Arsenal squad return to the UK but only briefly as they will be jetting off to the States for their second international tour of pre-season on July 13, where they will face Everton, Orlando City and Chelsea.

As things stand, the Emirates Cup clash against La Liga outfit Sevilla on July 30 - where Gabriel Jesus could make his non-competitive home debut - is the final warm-up game pencilled in before the Premier League opener against Crystal Palace, but football.london understands the club are hoping to arrange a behind-closed-doors friendly in between those matches.

What Mikel Arteta has said

"We're very pleased to have our training camp at Adidas HQ confirmed to kick off our pre-season schedule. I'd like to thank Adidas for hosting us. We're excited to get to work at the world-class facilities the campus has to offer. The fixture against FC Nurnberg will be a good test for us as we look to make a strong start to pre-season."
