Arsenal confirm triple injury scare ahead of Manchester United fixture

Arsenal could be without a number of key players when they host Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend.

Mikel Arteta's side got back to winning ways on Tuesday night as they came from behind to defeat Southampton 3-1 away from home.

Southampton, who knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup over the weekend, scored early through Stuart Armstrong before goals from Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette turned the game on it's head.

Arsenal will be looking for another spirited performance when they host United at the Emirates this weekend - but Arteta's side might have to do so without a fully fit squad.

Kieran Tierney missed both matches against Southampton through a calf injury and it remains to be seen whether or not the Scotland international will be back for Saturday's clash.

“I don't know. He wasn’t available against Southampton in the FA Cup. He was injured,” said Arteta.

“He is still injured today. And let’s see how he progresses for the game against Man United.”

Arsenal were also handed a double scare as Emile Smith Rowe and Thomas Partey were both forced off through injury at St. Mary's on Tuesday night.

When asked if Partey came off with cramp, Arteta said: “We don’t know. He was feeling some discomfort. Hopefully it is nothing, but he was struggling.”

While on Smith Rowe, the Arsenal manager added: “He was injured for the game in the FA Cup, so he wasn’t available.

“We knew that today he could probably not play the whole game and he has some muscular discomfort. He had to come off again.”
