Arsenal's stance on Leeds United clash following Covid-19 uncertainty

Arsenal believe their Premier League match with Leeds United this evening is set to go ahead as it stands, football.london understands.

The Gunners, to all extents and purposes, are planning to clash with the Whites later on this evening - with all the rest of Saturday's Premier League fixtures being postponed due to a high number of positive Covid-19 cases.

This weekend has seen six matches called off, with West Ham United vs Norwich City, Manchester United vs Brighton & Hove Albion, Southampton vs Brentford, Everton vs Leicester City, Watford vs Crystal Palace and Aston Villa vs Burnley all being postponed in recent days.

The Premier League also confirmed that the remaining four matches of the weekend, including Arsenal's trip to Elland Road to face Leeds, is due to go ahead at the moment.

A statement from the governing body said: "The remaining four Premier League matches due to be played this weekend are currently scheduled to proceed as planned.

"The Board assesses applications to postpone matches on a case-by-case basis, based on existing rules and COVID-19 postponement guidance issued to all clubs."

So, right now, it looks like the Gunners will be facing up with Leeds when the clock strikes 5:30pm, but the hosts are understood to be pushing for the match to be postponed.

If the match does indeed go ahead, then Arsenal will be desperate to make it three successive victories after beating West Ham and Southampton in recent weeks.

However, they both came at the Emirates Stadium - with Arsenal's last victory on the road recorded back at the end of October, with that convincing display and result away at Leicester City.
