Arsenal confirm Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang contract: Captain signs new three-year deal worth £250,000-a-week

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new three-year contract.

Following months of negotiations, the 31-year-old agreed fresh terms worth £250,000 a week in a major boost to manager Mikel Arteta.

Aubameyang has scored 72 goals in 111 appearances since signing from Borussia Dortmund for £56million in January 2018, including two to beat Chelsea in last season's FA Cup Final.

The Gabon international's decision to remain at Arsenal follows a summer which has seen Willian arrive from Chelsea on a £100,000-a-week three-year deal, with Gabriel Magalhaes also joining from Lille.

There is still work for Arteta to do in the market, with Dijon goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson on his list as Emi Martinez is expected to join Aston Villa in a £20m deal.

However, Aubameyang's new contract solves a major problem for Arsenal heading into the new season, and will allow his young team-mates Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli time to build on their potential out of the spotlight.
