Arsenal have announced that Dani Ceballos has rejoined the club on loan for a second successive season.
The Spanish midfielder discovered some of his best form towards the end of the 2019/20 campaign alongside Granit Xhaka and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has moved to re-sign the 24-year-old.
The Gunners have been in talks with Ceballos' parent club Real Madrid for several weeks, but a deal has now been struck for the Spain international to remain in north London for another year.
Ceballos becomes Arsenal's third summer signing, with the arrivals of Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes boosting the Gunners' squad ahead of Arteta's first full season in charge.
Speaking to the official club website, technical director Edu explained why the club moved to re-sign Ceballos.
“We’re thrilled to have Dani back with us for the new season," he said.
"We all know his qualities after an impressive 2019/2020 campaign, which ended with him playing a key role in our FA Cup success.
"We’re excited to add Dani to the list of quality players we are bringing in.”
Gunners boss Arteta added: “Dani was and integral part of our team last season and finished the season in excellent form.
"I love Dani’s passion and commitment and he’s a highly skilful player.
"We’re all delighted to welcome him back and we look forward to seeing him pick up where he left off.”
Last season Ceballos wore the number eight shirt at the Emirates, and the Gunners have confirmed that he will once against wear the same jersey.
