Arsenal confirm Aubameyang stance amid Manchester United transfer rumours

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not be leaving Arsenal this summer amid bizarre rumours of Manchester United interest, Unai Emery has told reporters.

The Reds have been linked with an audacious move for the 30-year-old Gabon international, though the MEN understands there is no substance behind the rumours.

Nevertheless, the mere suggestion that the Gunners could lose another star to United has brought back memories of Alexis Sanchez's capture from North London in January 2018 and, more significantly, the transfer of then-Arsenal captain Robin van Persie back in 2012.

Aubameyang's future remains at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal are not considering a departure for their club-record signing who they captured from Borussia Dortmund 18 months ago, Emery has confirmed.

"It's not really in our mind, not really. We are very happy with Aubameyang and we don't want to sell him," he told the club's website.

"Aubameyang can play like a striker alone, like a striker with two and can play as a winger on the right or the left.

"We want to be very aggressive in the attacking third and moving forward to score with him.

"But above all, with Aubameyang, we can take different options with him and he is very good and very rich for us."

Manchester United are set to face off with Arsenal on 30 September at Old Trafford, with the reverse fixture taking place in April.
