Arsenal confident over Gabriel Jesus deal as talks continue with Man City over transfer compromise

Arsenal are working on a deal for Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus and are growing in confidence that they can reach an agreement over the signing.

City have made it clear they want £50million for the Brazilian striker, with the two clubs currently apart in their respective valuations.

Further talks are scheduled to take place in the coming days and it is hoped that a compromise can be reached, with add-ons getting Arsenal closer to the fee City want.

Jesus is ready to leave the Premier League champions this summer as he wants more regular first-team football. City are happy to accept his wishes, particularly as they have already brought in Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez this summer.

Jesus knows Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta from his time as an assistant at City and is a fan. Chelsea, Real Madrid and Tottenham have all been offered the chance to sign Jesus after showing some interest in him, but Arsenal are the current front runners after holding concrete talks with City.

Jesus would come in to lead the line for Arsenal and will have competition from Eddie Nketiah who, as Standard Sport revealed yesterday, has signed a new long-term contract at the club.

The striker’s previous deal had been due to expire at the end of this month, but his new contract will run until 2025 and take his time at Arsenal to over 10 years.

Any deal for Jesus is nowhere near as far along as a move for Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira, who arrived in London yesterday to undergo a medical and wrap up the formalities of a transfer worth an initial £30m that could rise to £34m with add-ons.
