Arsenal chiefs 'respond to Matteo Guendouzi requesting to leave'

Arsenal have no intention of selling young midfielder Matteo Guendouzi - and reportedly told him as much.

Guendouzi allegedly met with Arsenal chiefs this week to discuss his future after he was dropped by Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners boss left the Frenchman out of his squad that beat Southampton, following Arsenal's defeat by Brighton.

Guendouzi had a game to forget against the Seagulls, and narrowly missed out on being hit with a fine from the FA for grabbing Neal Maupay by the throat.

The midfielder also allegedly taunted the Brighton players about how much they earn compared to his well-paid Arsenal team-mates.

Following the win over Southampton, Arteta was asked to address the Guendouzi situation.

He said: "As I said in the press conference [on Thursday night] whatever internal issues we have we will deal with them privately and I am never going to make any of that public.

"All the players that are here, I am counting on them. If they want on the boat, they are more than welcome and that's always my mindset.

"I am here to help all of them, to improve individually and collectively and that is my job."

According to ESPN, Guendouzi later went to go speak to the Arsenal board about his future, where he admitted he wants to leave.

The 21-year-old is worried about the amount of game time he is getting, but the board reportedly informed him that they have no intention of selling.
