Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham supporters’ groups see membership surge after Super League fiasco

Fans have flocked to sign up to supporters’ groups, as they seek to have more of a say at their clubs following the European Super League fiasco.

The website of the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust (CST) crashed due to the high demand on Wednesday, while the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust (THST) and the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust (AST) have also experienced a surge in new memberships.

The THST’s email service provider crashed on Wednesday they received in excess of 1,000 requests.

The AST say they have sensed “a groundswell for change” as fans look to have their say.

Spirit of Shankly, a group that represents Liverpool fans, have described an “unprecedented” uptake in new sign-ups.

It is not only fans of ‘Big Six’ clubs who have seen a spike in sign-ups, with West Ham fan groups also seeing an increase in membership.

The THST are meeting on Friday evening, where their board will present their position on ownership to members and gauge feedback.

That will then give them a mandate to potentially call for more change at the club.
