Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs watch on as fans call for circuit breaker amid rise in Covid cases

Supporters have urged the Premier League to begin a circuit breaker to manage Covid-19 cases in the coming weeks.

A number of games have been called off this month, with just four Premier League fixtures going ahead over the weekend following a huge spike in positive Covid-19 cases across the United Kingdom.

This comes after Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel admitted he was left incredibly frustrated with the decision to deny the Blues' request to postpone their match against Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking after his side played out a 0-0 draw with Bruno Lage's men, Tuchel said: "It is not safe.

"We talk about protecting players and a safe environment but it is not safe. I would be not surprised if the next test shows up and we have more positives.

"How should it stop if we sit in the bus and have dinners and just stay together like nothing happened?"

The Athletic have claimed that there will be a meeting between Premier League club executives at 1pm GMT on Monday, with discussions over the potential postponement of an entire round of festive fixtures set to take place.

The report revealed that gameweek 20 — the fixtures on December 28-30 — is the round most likely to be impacted whilst supporters voting in our survey think that a circuit breaker makes the most sense given the spike in positive cases.
