Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United handed boost after Tottenham's draw with Middlesbrough

It has not been going well for Tottenham and Jose Mourinho of late.

Spurs have picked up just four points from their last four games in the Premier League, with defeat at Southampton on New Year's Day compounded by injuries to striker Harry Kane and midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

As such, going into an FA Cup third round tie against Championship side Middlesbrough, the last thing Mourinho and his men would have wanted was a replay.

But that is what they now face, after Lucas Moura cancelled out Ashley Fletcher's opener for Boro, with the two sides now set to meet again at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium later this month.

However, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho suggested that it was "no drama" for his side, when speaking to BT Sport after the game.

"It could be worse. After the equaliser we were the team having chances and getting into incredible positions, but we missed a last ball," he said.

"I think we should win it, but we can look at the other side that we survived and we go again.

"The good thing was how we reacted. I reacted in the way that I could and the players on the pitch reacted and then we took our risks, and we noW take them to our stadium, which is not a drama.

"But we had so many chances, we should have done it."

But while Mourinho claims it is no drama for his side, it is another fixture to add to the schedule, which is already looking congested over the next few weeks for Spurs.

The replay will now take place in the week beginning January 13, after Spurs' game Liverpool on Saturday, January 11, and before the clash with Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday, January 18.

Spurs also have a midweek match the following week, with Norwich City the visitors to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday, January 22 in the Premier League.

Tottenham also resume their Champions League campaign next month when they host RB Leipzig in the first leg of their last 16 tie.

But Mourinho, who has previously said he was looking forward to working on different aspects of the game with his players in training between games in January as Spurs look to try and push for a top four spot in the Premier League, now has another game to contend with.

And with London rivals Chelsea safely through to the fourth round without the need for a replay, Mourinho now has an extra game to prepare his players for.

Two of Tottenham's other rivals for a top four spot - Wolves and Manchester United - also face a replay, after drawing 0-0 at Molineux yesterday.
