Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny insists club do not need to sign Hector Bellerin replacement

Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny insists the club do not need to sign a new right-back this month, despite the season-ending injury suffered by Hector Bellerin.

Bellerin was stretchered off with a ruptured ACL during the 2-0 Premier League win over Chelsea on Saturday, and is set to be out for 6-9 months.

Swiss veteran Stephan Lichtsteiner has struggled in his first season in the Premier League, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles has deputised in the position but is not a natural full-back, and Carl Jenkinson has not played a Premier League game for the club since November 2016.

However, Koscielny, himself only just back from a serious Achilles injury, insists the current squad can step up.

"We have some players who can play right-back," Koscielny told Sky Sports. "We have one young [Maitland-Niles] and one old but with experience [Lichtsteiner].

"So no [we don't need to sign anyone], I think we have the players. They played some games this season in the position and they played well.

"We are all together. Whichever player plays will give 100 per cent for the team and to have the best result for the club."
