Arsenal can secure necessary funds for Edu's final transfer with Premier League clubs keen on surplus star

Crystal Palace are ready to pay £10 million for the signature of Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal, report The Athletic, which would act as a healthy windfall for the potential signing of Houssem Aouar.

The 22-year-old's contract expires at the Emirates this summer and there has been no sign of a new deal, meaning Nketiah would be eligible for pre-contract talks in January over a free transfer.

Arsenal are reportedly demanding £20 million from any potential suitors for the striker's services as Edu plots the arrival of the Lyon midfielder.

Aouar was heavily linked with a move to North London last season, but the Gunners were eventually priced out of a deal with the French outfit reportedly demanding £53million.

However, according to The Sun, the asking price is now even lower with Lyon willing to accept as little as €20million (£17m) this summer.

Tom Canton, Bailey Keogh and Chris Davison, who are all from the Arsenal Fan Brands team, discussed Nketiah's potential departure and what that could mean for the remainder of the transfer window live on The Arsenal Way show via football.london's Arsenal page.

Keogh, Fan Brands Arsenal Writer and Presenter, kickstarted the debate by claiming the sale of Nketiah is a deal that the club cannot miss out on due to his contract situation.

"This is not an opportunity Arsenal can miss out on," began Keogh. "We can get some revenue from selling him and it's a now or never situation should Arsenal want to get some money for him and then reinvest that into other places in the squad."

"If we wanted to go and get Houssem Aouar, suddenly [with a £10 million windfall] that covers half of his price. He's a creative midfielder so that would be perfect."

Our Arsenal writer and presenter continued as he detailed how Nketiah is surplus to requirements under Arteta, insinuating that the sale of the striker would be beneficial for all parties.

"It would be the right decision [to sell Nketiah]," Keogh said. "We have a lot of striking options, they may not be the quality we need but neither is Nketiah. "It's a no-brainer to sell him for £10 million."

The youngster has been subject to limited opportunities under Arteta, competing for crucial minutes against the likes of world-renowned strikers in the shape of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well as fan favourite Gabriel Martinelli and Hale End's newest graduate Florian Balogun.

A move to Palace would offer Nketiah the platform to thrive for a Premier League side alongside some of the league's most exciting young players in a project pioneered by former Gunner, Patrick Vieira.

Nketiah's departure will also open an avenue of economic possibilities ahead of transfer deadline day, should Arteta want to plug any gaps in his side.
