Arsenal can repeat Kieran Tierney transfer trick to seal deal for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard

Arsenal are putting themselves forward as the candidate to be the Premier League's busiest club during this month's transfer window.

Despite the window only being just over a week old, the Gunners, who will be eyeing up a fifth successive win in all competitions on Thursday evening when they face Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium, have already strengthened their defensive options with the signing of Omar Rekik from Hertha Berlin and have allowed three players to leave the club.

Matt Macey has joined Hibernian on a permanent basis whilst defenders William Saliba and Sead Kolasinac have joined Nice and Schalke, respectively, on loan deals for the remainder of the season.

The tally of departures is soon expected to rise to four as well, with frozen-out midfielder Mesut Ozil on the cusp of finalising a switch to Fenerbahce.

Whilst departures were always likely to be a common theme of Arsenal's work during this month's window, arrivals are to be expected as well, with the club in the market for fresh additions, particularly in the shape of a central attacking-midfielder.

football.london understands that Norwich City ace Emiliano Buendia is at the very top of that list, with Borussia Dortmund ace Julian Brandt and Isco of Real Madrid also being linked with moves to north London.

However, with goals proving to be in short supply for Arsenal this season, certainly up until recently, the Gunners may also wish to add another striker to their ranks.

Over the past few days, Bursaspor youngster Ali Akman has been linked with a move to north London, but it is clear that he would be a player for the future, as he is only 18-years-old.

Another player, though, that Arsenal could switch their focus to is Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the past.

The Frenchman, who turns 23-years-old later this week, has been making a real name for himself in Scotland over the last few seasons. This term, Edouard has notched 11 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions, meaning he has scored 39 goals for the Scottish giants since the start of the 2019/20 season.

Now, it has emerged that Edouard has switched agents, joining the Stellar Group, who represent Kieran Tierney, who, of course, joined Arsenal from Celtic in 2019.

The Stellar Group is owned by big-name football agent Jonathan Barnett, and they were responsible for earning Tierney a move to Arsenal.

Though it has not been confirmed that the Gunners have rekindled any sort of interest in Edouard, transfer expert Ian McGarry believes Edouard's decision to change agents offers a hint that he is keen on a move south of the border, and to the Premier League.

"He has changed his agent and very interestingly he has decided to hire the Stellar Group, who are of course run and owned by Jonathan Barnett," McGarry told the Transfer Window Podcast.

"Now, what's kind of coincidental about this is that it was a senior executive agent at Stellar who brokered Kieran Tierney's deal to join Arsenal from Celtic, and you have to wonder if Edouard has looked at the situation with Tierney and thought: 'Okay, well Kieran got his move' and obviously Stellar are very well connected, especially with the London clubs, he's certainly eyeing a move to the Premier League, that's for sure, but in hiring Stellar perhaps London is his preferred destination."

Edouard has scored a total of 72 goals in 151 appearances for Celtic since joining them from French giants Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, initially on loan.
