Arsenal boss Unai Emery provides transfer update amid Philippe Coutinho and Kieran Tierney links

Unai Emery has hinted that Arsenal could sign another player before the transfer deadline this week.

The Gunners have already signed four players so far this summer, with teenage forward Gabriel Martinelli joining from Brazilian side Ituano, Dani Ceballos arriving on loan from Real Madrid and Nicolas Pepe signing in a club record deal last week.

William Saliba has also joined the Gunners from St Etienne, but the defender has returned to the French side on loan for the 2019/20 season.

But Arsenal continue to be linked with moves for players leading up to the transfer deadline on Thursday, with Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho and Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney among the potential arrivals in the final few days of the window.

Arsenal also remain interested in signing a centre-back, with defence a priority for the Gunners to improve in the final few days of the window.

But Emery has suggested that the Gunners may only make one more signing this week.

"If we can sign one player who can improve our squad, we can do that," he was quoted as saying by the Telegraph after Arsenal's defeat against Barcelona.

However, reports in Spain suggest that Coutinho is unlikely to join Arsenal, as things stand.

Arsenal have denied reported interest in bringing former Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho back to the Premier League from Barcelona, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo states.

And Emery has been quoted in local media in Barcelona as saying that the former Liverpool man has not been talked about.

"He is a splendid player, but we have not talked at any time about Coutinho," he has been quoted as saying .
