Arsenal boss Unai Emery does not know when Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac will return

Arsenal boss Unai Emery says he doesn’t yet know when Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac will be available to return to his side.

The duo were the victims of an attempted car-jacking earlier this month, with videos on social media showing Kolasinac fighting off the attackers.

The pair were absent from Arsenal’s Emirates Cup clash with Lyon after that incident, but returned to face Barcelona in the Gunners’ final preseason game the following weekend.

However, the club announced on Friday that both had been left out of the squad for Sunday’s season opener against Newcastle, which they won 1-0, after ‘further security incidents’.

Both players are known to be safe and unharmed, but Emery says he is none the wiser as to when they may return.

“The club is managing that circumstance,” he said. “We want to be with them as soon as possible and with normality in training and normality to be ready to play.

“But I don’t know now when they will be available.”
