Arsenal boss Unai Emery calls up five youngsters ahead of Liverpool clash

Arsenal are hopeful both Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil will be available for their trip to Liverpool on Saturday.

But Gunners boss Unai Emery has called up five youngsters to join in first-team training ahead of the showdown between the only two teams with 100% records remaining in the Premier League this season.

Xhaka and Ozil took part in training on Wednesday at Arsenal's London Colney facility having missed last weekend's 2-1 home win over Burnley.

Ozil sat out the Clarets clash with back and leg problems, while Xhaka was suffering from illness.

Emery joked earlier this week that Arsenal "don't want to play against Liverpool ever" with the Gunners having been thumped on each of their last three visits to Anfield and not beaten the Reds since April 2015.

And the manager has bolstered his options further by calling up youngsters James Olayinka, Bukayo Saka, Folarin Balogun, Emile Smith Rowe and Zak Swanson to training.

Fellow young players Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock have started Arsenal's first two games, wins at Newcastle United and at home to Burnley.
