Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta sends message to Gareth Bale ahead of Tottenham transfer

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes Real Madrid star Gareth Bale joining Tottenham is a 'positive'.

Bale is expected to rejoin Spurs today on a season-long loan deal with an option of a second year.

And while Arsenal fans might see that as bad news given Bale's ability, Arteta sees it as a plus with the Welshman adding strength to an already ultra-competitive Premier League.

“The Premier League always has the best players in the world," the Gunners boss said in his press conference.

"Gareth is one of the most significant players. I think it’s always positive to bring the best players back.

"The competition from every club is making this league harder and harder.”

Bale has been with Real Madrid since 2013, winning all there is to win during his time in the Spanish capital.

He joined Real after five years at Spurs, scoring 42 times in 146 league appearances.

Bale is now set to return to Tottenham, and he will be joined by Los Blancos teammate Sergio Reguilon, who is making the move to Spurs for a fee of around £28million.
