Arsenal have made a transfer decision on Emiliano Martinez after demands from the goalkeeper.
The Gunners are trying to improve their squad during the summer transfer window but have also decided to offload players.
Sam Greenwood joined Leeds United this week and now Martinez wants out so he can secure a number one spot elsewhere.
Mikel Arteta has made it clear to the player that Bernd Leno is his number one in between the posts, according to The Athletic.
This now means that Arsenal are willing to part ways with the 27-year-old Martinez, who shone during the back end of the 2019/20 season.
It was of course Martinez who was in goal during the club's FA Cup final win over Chelsea but now Arteta has delivered a blow to the keeper's hopes of remaining with the club.
These reports come despite what Arteta has publicly said about the battle between the two keepers.
He said: "I’m delighted to have both of them. But they both know that on the first day of pre-season, you start again and fight for your place and show us who is the one that deserves the chance to start.
"I don’t want to keep them both happy, I want the one that is not playing to be upset.
"But upset and then challenge the next player to make him better, or if not, earn his place to do that. It’s not easy to do that.
"I personally don’t see any different with goalkeepers to full-backs. They know that, I’ve been really clear with them and hopefully they can make each other better and hopefully the team better."
