Quincy Promes 'identified as Arsenal transfer target' as Alex Lacazette linked with exit

Arsenal are reportedly preparing to table a £25million bid to bring Ajax star Quincy Promes to the Emirates Stadium.

The news comes after Alexandre Lacazette has been linked with a departure from the Gunners, with Juventus believed to be interested in the Frenchman.

Should Lacazette leave Arsenal, manager Mikel Arteta will be light of options in attack and the Spaniard is identifying potential recruits.

Promes, a seasoned Netherlands international who is able to operate on either flank, is one such target and would give Arteta more experience and quality in attack.

The player is keen on the move, according to The Sun, with a source saying: "Quincy would go in a heartbeat.

"It would be a great move for him - and Arsenal.”

Promes was signed on a five-year deal from Sevilla for £14million last summer as Ajax aimed to replace Frenkie de Jong, who moved to Barcelona.

Prior to that, he played for Dutch duo Twente and Go Ahead Eagles, and for Spartak Moscow.

During his four seasons with the Russian giants, he won one league title and was named the club's player of the year twice.

It is believed Promes' boss at Ajax, Erik ten Hag, would be willing to sell him this summer.

Promes played against Premier League opposition this season as the Dutch giants faced Chelsea in the Champions League group stage.

He was on the scoresheet during the dramatic 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge and admitted he was open to a move to England after the match.

"To me, if I have a chance, maybe in the future," Promes told reporters when asked about a the possibility of playing in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are linked with a move for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha, who appeared to send a message saying he would like the move at the weekend.

Eagles boss Roy Hodgson admitted the Ivorian winger favours a move away from Selhurst Park this summer.
