Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Tuesday, July 21.
Arteta drops Ozil hunt
Mikel Arteta has opened the door to Mesut Ozil making a return to the Arsenal squad for the trip to Aston Villa.
Arteta, speaking in his media briefing, suggested he could be in contention for a return - but still faces a battle to make the 20-man squad for the trip to Villa Park.
"Mesut is training at the moment,” Arteta replied when asked if Ozil is likely to feature against Villa.
Before adding: "Like every other player that is training.
"Because I have to pick from 23/24 players to do the squad so I will do that this afternoon."
Willock issues Aubameyang contract update
Joe Willock is hopeful that Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will extend his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The striker is out-of-contract with the Gunners at the end of next season, meaning he could soon be available on a free-transfer if he has not put pen-to-paper on a new deal before he reaches the final six months of his current deal.
A whole host of clubs have been heavily linked with plotting a move for the former Borussia Dortmund man this summer, including the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
But Willock is hopeful that Aubameyang will put pen-to-paper on a new deal in the coming weeks.
Gunners in swap talks
Juventus are planning a swap deal involving Adrien Rabiot and Alexandre Lacazette this summer.
According to Italian publication Calciomercato, the Italian giants are interested in signing Lacazette this summer and are prepared to offer midfielder Adrien Rabiot in exchange.
The report also claims that the Gunners contacted Veronique Rabiot, Adrien’s agent and mother, in January to discuss a loan deal for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.
