Arsenal boost as Gabriel now available for entire Liverpool Carabao Cup tie after serving ban earlier

Arsenal have received a boost with the news that defender Gabriel will now be available for both legs of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

The Brazilian was sent off against Manchester City last Saturday after receiving two yellow cards in the space of a few minutes.

Gabriel received his first booking for dissent and was pulled up again moments later after bringing down City striker Gabriel Jesus.

The Arsenal centre-back is due to serve a one-match domestic ban and that will now see him miss Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Nottingham Forest.

Originally, Gabriel had been due to miss the first leg of Arsenal’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool on Thursday but, after that was postponed and moved to January 20, the 24-year-old is available for both legs.

The centre-back will now be suspended for Sunday’s third-round tie at Forest, before being available to face Liverpool at Anfield on January 13.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have been hit with an FA charge for failing to control their players in the defeat to City.
