Arsenal blow as 'Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replacement' Odsonne Edouard opens talks with Celtic

Arsenal risk missing out on another striker after Odsonne Edouard opened talks with Celtic over a new deal.

The Gunners stand to lose Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang this summer as he continues to stall over a new deal. The Gabon international is contracted to Arsenal until 2021, but the club are reluctant to let him leave on a free next summer and will instead move him along if no progress can be made in talks.

It means Mikel Arteta is on the hunt for attacking reinforcements, with Edouard among those linked with a move to north London.

But with no developments in Aubameyang talks, Edouard may soon be out of their reach too.

Celtic have opened contract talks with striker Eduoard, who scored 28 goals before the Scottish season was cut short, and boss Neil Lennon is confident of keeping him.

"There are discussions at the minute with his [Edouard’s] representatives," said Lennon.

"Ultimately he’s a player we want around. He’s a fantastic player. He’s really blossomed over the last couple of seasons. He had a magnificent season this year and we want to keep him. It’s as simple as that.

"We’re doing everything we can to keep him here for at least another season anyway.

"I think he is [happy]. I think he’s got a fantastic relationship certainly with me and my backroom team and his team-mates.

"You can see how much the supporters appreciate him as well. I think that’s reciprocated."
