Arsenal blocked from Christian Eriksen transfer as Lucas Torreira agent confirms decision

Inter look to have been blocked in their hopes of an ambitious swap deal involving Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira and former Spurs star Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen left Spurs for Milan in January 2020 with just six months remaining on his contract in a deal worth around £25million.

However, his time in Italy has not been successful, with the Denmark international finding little game time under Antonio Conte.

Torreira, meanwhile, has also struggled to get on the pitch during his loan spell at Atletico Madrid after leaving on a year-long move from the Gunners.

Reports in Italy state that Inter are considering an offer to Arsenal of a swap deal involving the pair, which could prove difficult given Eriksen's prior allegiance to Spurs.

And Torreira's agent Pablo Bentancur seems to have blocked any chance of a deal happening, stating that there has been no talks about a move with the Italian club, and that the 24-year-old is staying put for the rest of the season.

"No contact with Inter for Torreira," Bentancur told FCInter1908. "I have not received any calls.

"Torreira is at Atletico, he is very well in Madrid and will not move in January."

Arsenal technical director Edu has admitted that the Gunners are concerned about the midfielder's situation in Madrid, and that other clubs are interested in him if he is not going to receive sufficient playing time in La Liga.

"The situation is very simple. Arsenal is concerned about Torreira, his happiness, that he plays, and that he is well," Edu told AS.

"We want to know about him how he feels and, later, of course, know what Atletico thinks.

"For us, Lucas and his happiness are what is more important.

"If everyone is happy, we will continue like this, if Lucas is not well, we will look for a change because there are many teams that are calling me to ask about the player's situation."
