Arsenal backed to seal Champions League return in 2020 ahead of Chelsea and Man United

Arsenal fans might not be enamoured with the club's business so far but one legend has two key reasons why the Gunners will succeed during the 2019/20 campaign.

Gabriel Martinelli became Arsenal's first signing of the summer and now they are attempting to acquire the likes of Dani Ceballos and Kieran Tierney, while a deal for William Saliba is close.

Arsenal 's struggles to sign players are directly linked to the lack of Champions League football on offer at the Emirates but former star Perry Groves expects that to change heading into the next decade.

Groves is predicting struggles aplenty for the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea next season, something which he says will benefit Arsenal.

The former winger expects Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to fail in his first full season in the managerial hot seat

Furthermore, Groves describes Chelsea's two-window transfer ban situation as 'turmoil'.

"I know we’re battling to be best of the rest again and realistically, that’s fourth," Groves told talkSPORT .

"Manchester United are in a bit of turmoil – Solskjaer is not going to be good enough.

"Chelsea are in a little bit of turmoil; they can’t sign any players, they’ve got Frank Lampard, and they’ve got young players coming in.

"So fourth place is really going to be competitive and I want us to be in a position to be able to compete.

"I know it shows how far we’ve dropped, competing for fourth place – but we’ve got to be realistic.

Jack Wilshere speaks to football.london about Arsenal's transfer targets

"And if they sign these younger players, hungry and with the right attitude, then as an Arsenal fan at the end of the transfer window I’ll think, 'OK, we’re looking to go forward'.
