The surprise windfall that Arsenal and Unai Emery will receive that could be used in January

Arsenal  are set to receive a welcome windfall which could help to boost their transfer budget come the January transfer window

There was reports during the summer that head coach Unai Emery had a limited amount of cash to work with during the transfer window following the club's failure to qualify for the Champions League this season.

This lead to the club coming up with clever ways of saving money, despite breaking their transfer record on signing Nicolas Pepe. The £72m transfer fee for the Frenchman will reportedly be paid in installments over the next six years.

There is plenty of other ways too that the club could increase their budget going into the January window.

One is to ask owner Stan Kroenke for a cash injection and another is to raise funds with the help of a former player.

In the end the north London outfit benefited from Ismael Bennacer's move to AC Milan as they reportedly included a 30% sell-on fee clause after selling him to Empoli.

They also raised funds by selling Alex Iwobi to Everton for a reported £40m fee on transfer deadline day last week.

And now there is now another cash injection that is coming Arsenal's way which could come in very handy for when January comes around.

Former midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide is has sealed the deal to join Lyon from Angers for €25m + €5m.

Just like the Bennacer deal, Arsenal included a sell-on clause when selling him to Angers last summer.

Ouest-France have confirmed that the clause stands at 10%, meaning that the Gunners will receive a fee in the region of €2.5m from the transfer.

Despite featuring in the very first pre-season game under Emery, Reine-Adelaide was not included in the squad for the Singapore tour last summer and that was proved to be the writing on the wall for his future at the Emirates Stadium.

A few weeks later the midfielder returned to France, joining Angers for an undisclosed fee and he's recently revealed the conversation which took place with the Spanish tactician prior to his exit.

Unai Emery on why he decided not to start with new signings

"It is true that I would like to speak a little less of Arsenal. I was young. It was complicated," he told Goal."There was so much competition that it was difficult to get into the coach's line-up.

"He [Emery] told me that the club did not rely too much on me.

"I took a blow, but Angers was on the lookout. It was a new chance, a new beginning.

"The train does not pass often and I was happy to get back in the right car."
