Arsenal and Tottenham transfer target Joachim Andersen makes exit declaration

Arsenal and Tottenham target Joachim Andersen has admitted the time could be right to depart Sampdoria as transfer interest hots up.

The Danish defender, 23, has been heavily linked with a Premier League switch having impressed in Serie A and both north London clubs are keen.

He has also been tipped to follow manager Marco Giampaolo to AC Milan - and he has now admitted a move is on the cards.

After breaking his silence on his situation, Andersen confirmed his agent is holding talks with a number of interested parties and he will soon make a final decision on where his future lies.

Andersen told Goal : “It could be time for me to further my career.

"I have loved my time in Sampdoria but maybe it’s time to move on to develop further.

“There are a number of interesting clubs from Europe’s biggest leagues who are discussing with my agent and I’ll be making a decision shortly together with my family and my agent.

"I have dreams of playing in the biggest clubs in the world and the biggest leagues in the world".

Andersen hinted at an AC Milan switch as he praised the role of Giampaolo, who has taken over at the San Siro, in his development.

“He’s played a big role in my development," he commented.

"He is known as one of the best coaches in Italy when it comes to defensive organization.

"I have learned a lot from him and he has made me a more complete footballer.”

Arsenal are on the lookout for defensive reinforcements and have also been linked with Andersen's team-mate Dennis Praet in a double switch.

But they are working on a tight budget and have other defenders on their radar as Unai Emery aims to tighten things up at the back.

Spurs see Andersen as a potential replacement for Toby Alderweireld, whose complicated transfer situation could see him depart for a cut price release clause this summer.

Andersen has also been tracked by Manchester United in the past, although they have a number of other defenders higher up their wish list.
