Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both need to spend lavishly in the summer if they are to close the gap to the top four and secure Champions League status.
That's according to Jamie Redknapp, who played for Spurs in the Premier League and works as a pundit for Sky Sports.
Arsenal and Spurs face one another in the north London derby on Sunday afternoon. Spurs enter the match in seventh and Arsenal in 10th, an illustration of the two teams' struggles throughout the campaign.
And when discussing how to close the gap to champions-elect Manchester City, defending champions Liverpool, Manchester United and Leicester City, Redknapp says that both Arsenal and Spurs face the same summer transfer issue: spending.
"I think Spurs fans would love a centre-half in the summer that could come in and make a real difference," he said on Sky Sports.
"In midfield, they don’t have major problems, maybe someone to come in and play alongside Hojbjerg, Ndombele has been excellent, certainly towards the back end of the season.
"Up-front, you’re not going to get better than Son, Kane or Bale, obviously what happens with Gareth Bale we don’t know."
On Arsenal, Redknapp said that although the Gunners need to give Thomas Partey time to adapt, further investment is also required if the club are going to push on next season.
"Arsenal do need some investment," he added.
"I think we have to give Thomas Partey - who is going to be an exceptional player for Arsenal going forward - you have to give any player that’s come from abroad a bit of time, certainly this year because of what they’ve had to go through: not having any family around them, going through a global pandemic, it’s already difficult enough.
"I think he will become a star midfield player for them. If you asked who needs to invest more, it’s definitely Arsenal."
Redknapp also added that while Spurs' attacking play is exciting and stealing the headlines, their midfield signings have been quietly effective.
"It’s (Spurs) a very strong squad," he added.
"The excitement for Spurs comes from Gareth Bale, Son and Kane - that gives you so much excitement. Going forward, they’ve been excellent, defensively they’ve made some errors, but in midfield I think they’ve made some good signings as well."
Spurs can move into fifth position with a win over Arsenal, while the Gunners will be looking to move to within four points of their north London rivals.
