Arsenal and Tottenham could face £50m summer battle for Michael Keane

Tottenham are weighing up a £50million summer move for Everton and England defender Michael Keane.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is in the market for a young centre-back this summer and has identified Keane as his first-choice target.

Scouts from Tottenham were at Everton's 2-0 win at West Ham on Saturday to watch Keane, while north London rivals Arsenal are also understood to have had representatives there looking at the ball-playing centre-back.

With Tottenham facing the prospect of losing Toby Alderweireld - who has a year left on his current deal - this summer and Jan Vertonghen turning 32 later this month, Pochettino needs to bolster his central defensive options.

Arsenal 'to beat 20 clubs' to signing of £6.5m teen winger

Keane, who has played all but three of Everton's 32 Premier League games this season, joined from Burnley for £25million in 2017 and has seen his stock rise in his two years at Goodison Park.

The 26-year-old, who began his career at Manchester United , has become a regular in the England squad and scored his first international goal in last week's 5-0 Euro 2020 qualifier rout of Montenegro.

Although Everton would be reluctant to lose Keane, it is understood a bid in the region of £50m - double what the Toffees paid for him - could see Tottenham land the cultured defender.

Meanwhile, Arsenal 'to beat 20 clubs' to signing of £6.5m teen winger with the signing of highly-rated Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli.

The Premier League club have been keeping tabs on the 17-year-old, who plies his trade in his homeland with Ituano.

The Gunners have apparently fought off 20 other top European clubs for his signature, after a £6.5million bid.
