Arsenal and Spurs backed for top four finish as supercomputer predicts 2019/20 Premier League

Arsenal and Tottenham will be victorious in their quest for a top-four finish but Chelsea are set for a difficult campaign under Frank Lampard.

That’s according to spread betting firm Sporting Index, who have predicted the Premier League table based on who their traders are betting.

The prediction says the Gunners will bring an end to a three-year absence from the Champions League by finishing fourth, ahead of Manchester United and Chelsea , while Spurs are backed to comfortably finish in the top four.

At the top, Manchester City are expected to finish five points ahead of Liverpool to win their third Premier League title in a row, leaving the Reds' quest for a first league title extending into three decades.

The race for seven will be won by Everton, if this prediction is to be believed, with Leicester missing out by one point and Wolves by three. West Ham make up the rest of the top half.

At the bottom, Sporting Index’s traders are backing newcomers Sheffield United and Norwich to go down, along with Brighton, who managed to avoid the drop last term.

Interestingly, Newcastle are expected to struggle as they begin life without Rafael Benitez, being predicted to miss the drop by an average of just 0.5 points.

Aston Villa, Burnley and Bournemouth are all expected to have enough to extend their Premier League stay, but the prediction says they are all in for an uncomfortable campaign.

You can see the predicted table below.

Speaking about the precision, Sporting Index’s head of trading, Neville Burdock, said: “Last season was one of the most exciting we’ve had in the Premier League for many years and we expect the title race to be extremely close yet again.

“Sadly for Liverpool fans we’ve got Man City coming out on top by five points to land a third successive title in a row by five points. Chelsea and Man United fans will be concerned to see their teams sitting outside the top four in our predictions, as we think Arsenal will jump above both and take the final Champions League spot on 70 points.

“It’s always tough for promoted sides to survive their first season in the Premier League, and we think Aston Villa will be the only team to hold on to their top-flight status out of the three newcomers.”
