Arsenal could get a double welcome fitness boost ahead of Saturday afternoon's Premier League encounter with Everton.
The two teams have not had a good first-half of the season and are separated by four points the table and will go into the game at the Goodison Park on the back of contrasting results in the league last time out.
The Gunners were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by defending champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium, while the Toffees earned a great point away at Manchester United to go with the 3-1 win over Chelsea the weekend before.
Trips to Merseyside haven't been good for the north London outfit of late.
They've already lost twice away at Liverpool this season and were beaten 1-0 by Everton in the corresponding fixture last term - a result which was costly to their hopes of a top-four finish.
But there's some good news on the fitness front for the visitors ahead of the game.
Granit Xhaka could be in line to make his return after missing the 2-2 Europa League draw with Standard Liege last week as well as the defeat against City on Sunday afternoon.
This was as per concussion protocols after he sustained strike to the head from the ball during the win West Ham United.
An update via Arsenal.com states the Switzerland international will be managed ahead of the game against the Toffees, and if all goes well he could be in the travelling squad.
In addition, Dani Ceballos is closing in on a return to full training having been out of action since sustaining a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw against Vitoria at the beginning of last month.
The on-loan Real Madrid midfielder recently took to social media and said he was targeting the Bournemouth game on Boxing Day for his comeback.
"There's almost no time left!," he tweeted. "Boxing Day is my goal! 8 days until I'm back with the team!"
Eight days from December 13 is Saturday which means Ceballos should be back in training ahead of the Everton game, even though he won't feature.
This will be a boost to Mikel Arteta who is expected to be named as the new Arsenal head coach before the trip to Goodison Park.
And the Spaniard can hope for more positive injury news regarding Sead Kolasinac who limped off unaided against Man City last weekend.
