Arsenal and Liverpool left-backs Kieran Tierney and Andy Robertson 'joke about comparisons'

Kieran Tierney says he and Andy Robertson have a laugh about comparisons being made between the two of them.

The Scottish left-backs are both pivotal players in Premier League sides, with Tierney having won Arsenal's Player of the Month award for June and Robertson winning the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool.

The two will link up on international duty this week, as Steve Clarke's Scotland squad prepare to face Israel and the Czech Republic in the Nations League.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Tierney said: “We’ve always laughed about it. No matter what we do, we always get compared to each other.

“That’s fine, it’s no problem. We’re two left-backs, we’re both young and you just have to deal with it.

“There’s no bitterness. Andy’s playing at a really good level, he’s won the Premier League and the Champions League. I’ve not done any of that.

“I’m still learning every day, working hard. That’s what I do.

“I’m not comparing myself to him. I just leave that to other people and they all have their opinions.

“I think we’re slightly different left-backs, but neither of us gets worked up about it. We actually have a joke about it, more than anything.

“What Andy has achieved is fantastic. I think anybody will look at what he’s done and where he’s come from and would love to emulate him. It’s a fairytale.

“Andy’s done it all and he’s living the dream. It’s brilliant to train with him.

“I’ll look at him, I’ll learn from him, I’ll take tips. I’m just doing what I can every single day.”

Tierney joined Arsenal from Celtic in 2019, while Robertson left Dundee United for Hull in 2014 and joined Liverpool in 2017.
