Arsenal and former Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney donates shirt in heartwarming gesture

Kieran Tierney has donated his shirt to an ill Arsenal supporter.

The former Celtic left-back was pictured giving the finger to the camera after his side's 2-0 FA Cup semi-final win over Man City at Wembley.

The picture went viral, but Tierney later explained that it was supposed to be a private joke.

Tierney tweeted: "Didn’t realise this was getting posted. Was a joke with the Kitman. I’m so sorry if it caused anyone offence - wasn’t meant in any way."

In response, Arsenal fan @AndreasEikaasen tweeted a picture of himself giving the finger from his hospital bed and said: "Let’s just say It was meant for my cancer, mate! Brilliant game today, made my night at the hospital."

Scotland international Tierney replied: "That’s exactly what it stood for my man! U legend... get in touch I will send u my shirt from tonight. Keep fighting."

The 23-year-old helped his side to victory by providing a sublime assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's second goal.

Tierney struggled with injuries for much of his first season after leaving Celtic for Arsenal, but has made himself a key part of the side since the restart and won the club's Player of the Month competition for June.
