Arsenal and Chelsea fans will love what Cesc Fabregas did with Tottenham message

Cesc Fabregas is bound to wind up Tottenham fans after liking a tweet proclaiming that the club have now gone 5000 days without winning a trophy.

Spurs' last piece of silverware came in 2008 when they beat Chelsea at Wembley to win the League Cup.

Since then the Lilywhites have reached another three finals in that competition, losing to Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City respectively. They also reached the Champions League final in 2019, losing 2-0 to Liverpool in Madrid.

Fabregas faced many battles with Spurs whilst playing for Arsenal and Chelsea, and clearly revelled in their lack of success over the years.

The 34-year-old Spanish midfielder who now plays for Monaco is no stranger to silverware.

He won the FA Cup with Arsenal in 2005, La Liga with Barcelona in 2013, a League Cup and two Premier League titles during his time at Chelsea.

Fabregas was also part of the Spain squad that won the World Cup in 2010.

Spurs will be hopeful of ending their trophy drought under new boss Antonio Conte, they host West Ham in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals next month and are among the favourites to win the inaugural Europa Conference League.

Fabregas begrudgingly admitted that the hiring of his old manager Conte by Spurs is a bit of a masterstroke.

"I hate to say it but what an appointment by Spurs," Fabregas said on Twitter shortly after the announcement.
