Arsenal and Chelsea fans to learn FA Cup quarter-final kick off time with announcement imminent

The FA Cup quarter-final dates and kick-off times will be announced within the next 24 hours as Arsenal and Chelsea supporters grow increasingly impatient with respective away trips to Sheffield United and Leicester City to be planned at short notice.

BT Sport and BBC will share coverage of the last eight games, which are scheduled to be played on the weekend of February 21.

Last season three quarter-finals were shown on the Saturday with the other broadcast on Sunday afternoon but it is not clear whether the same format will be followed later this month.

Premier League top scorer: Who leads the race for the golden boot?

Norwich City, who defeated Tottenham Hotspur in a replay last Wednesday, are almost certain to host Manchester United on the Sunday afternoon owing to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team being in Europa League action on the Thursday night.

However, Arsenal and Chelsea could play either day and many supporters have been angered by the lack of information.

Should Mikel Arteta's side face the Blades in a late kick-off, travelling fans may need to spend the night in Sheffield as the last train departs at 8.29pm on Saturday.

There are also no direct services on the Saturday evening with passengers needing to change at East Midlands Parkway.

A possibility also exists that the Gunners' game could end up being played on the Friday evening with them out of European competition.

For Chelsea fans, meanwhile, returning from Leicester for a 5.30pm kick-off should not be an issue but last-minute match ticket arrangements are also complicated by away clubs being granted additional allocations for cup games.

Frank Lampard's team also face Bayern Munich away in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Newcastle United face Manchester City in the other quarter-final tie at St James' Park.

Premier League fixtures initially scheduled for that weekend are yet to be rescheduled.
