Arsenal and Chelsea fans have same reaction to leaked Kai Havertz picture before transfer

Arsenal and Chelsea fans have both expressed their delight after seeing a leaked picture of Kai Havertz ahead of his £65million transfer between the London clubs.

Having spent three mixed seasons with Chelsea, the German forward is en route to Arsenal and was spotted wearing a Gunners jersey for the first time on Monday. An image of Havertz, 24, leaked onto social media and appeared to confirm that an announcement regarding his move is imminent.

Arsenal supporters have gotten giddy over the prospect of the Germany international strutting his stuff as part of Mikel Arteta's side, but it seems that some Chelsea fans are just as excited to see the back of him. Commenting on the image of Havertz, one Gooner beamed: "Welcome to the best club in London."

Another added: "He upgraded and he knows it." Yet there was a sense of relief among the online Chelsea contingent, with one supporter admitting: "You don't understand how happy this makes me, this weight off our shoulders will feel like a new signing."

A second fan followed up by saying: "The best piece of business we'll do this summer. Doesn't make Arsenal stronger, certainly doesn't weaken us. £65m up. How we've pulled this off is beyond me, absolute scam. I love it."

However, not all Chelsea fans are happy to watch Havertz depart, with one user saying: "All the best. Not all Chelsea fans dislike your efforts, a lot of us still love and appreciate you. Thanks for giving us our second UCL."

The 24-year-old memorably scored the only goal of the game as Chelsea beat Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final, crowning the Blues kings of Europe for only the second time in their history. As for neutrals, there's plenty of scepticism surrounding the move from pundits like Mirror columnist Stan Collymore, who's far from convinced that Havertz will improve Arsenal as they chase the Premier League title.

"Arsenal's decision to spend £65m on Kai Havertz is still baffling me," former Liverpool ace Collymore wrote. "A year ago, the capture of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus were hailed by the Gunners as them signing two players who would take them closer to the title because both were experienced winners.

"And now when they need to make those kind of signings again, I don't look at Havertz and see the nasty, gnarly, drag-the-rest-of-them-kicking-and-screaming-towards-top-spot player they could do with."

Ex-Aston Villa star Gabriel Agbonlahor is in agreement, telling Football Insider: "I don't understand that transfer. It's very strange," Agbonlahor declared. "Arsenal haven't learned their lesson with transfers. Kai Havertz is not a clinical striker. He isn't an out-and-out number nine, which what Arsenal need as they currently have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah but require an upgrade on them."
