Arsenal aim for January Juventus deal as Mikel Arteta plans key first-team role for youngster

Welcome to our football.london Arsenal daily round-up piece. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all. Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Patino set for first-team promotion

Despite rumoured interest from Barcelona for the youth team player, Charlie Patino is set to be promoted into the first-team squad by manager Mikel Arteta.

The 17-year-old is a bright prospect, with the La Liga giants reportedly keeping a close eye on him. The player has impressed in senior team training sessions and the club is willing to offer the player a new contract when he turns 18 this year.

Per the reports, Arsenal could make their intentions clear by naming Patino on the bench, in their Carabao Cup fixture next week. The gunners face AFC Wimbledon in the third round of the competition, next Wednesday.

Juventus interested in Lacazette

According to Calciomercato the French striker whose contract finishes next summer is garnering interest from Serie A club Juventus.

Alexandre Lacazette has also been rumoured with moves to Spanish clubs Atletico Madrid and Sevilla. The 30-year-old per the report wants to move to a club where he’ll be able to compete at the highest level.

Juventus could be looking to make a move in January, or move for a free transfer at the end of the season.

Lacazette has not featured much under Arteta so far this season after recovering from Covid-19. With Gabriel Martinelli and Folarin Balogun playing a bigger part in Arsenal's plans, Lacazette's days at the Emirates may be numbered.

Former Arsenal player backs Partey

Former Arsenal and Everton player, Kevin Campbell has backed Thomas Partey to relace Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the Arsenal starting eleven against Burnely this weekend.

Speaking to Football Insider he said: “Partey has to start, 100 per cent.

“Arsenal are a much better outfit with him in the centre of the midfield. I expect to see him and Albert Lokonga dove-tailing that midfield against Burnley.

“It is no disrespect to Ainsley Maitland-Niles because I thought he had a good game on Saturday. But Thomas Partey is world-class as far as I’m concerned.”
