Arsenal agree transfer fee with Celtic to sign Kieran Tierney

Arsenal have agreed a transfer fee with Celtic to sign Kieran Tierney.

The Scottish left-back is on his way to London to complete a medical ahead of a deadline day switch. He will put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

The Gunners have been in hot pursuit of the defender all summer and appear to have finally got their man.

Tierney is set to become Arsenal's fifth signing of the season, and will follow £72million Nicolas Pepe through the door at the Emirates.

The Gunners were worried they would have to wait until January to get a deal done for Tierney after having a £25million bid for the left-back rejected earlier in the window.

But Arsenal made one last push this Wednesday and it seems to have paid dividends.

Arsenal struggled to get the money together for Tierney due to budget restrictions.

Even club-record signing Pepe was landed with the help of installments.

Unai Emery and his transfer advisors will now switch their attention to finding a centre-back before the window slams shut.

David Luiz has emerged as a surprise target, with Chelsea open to the idea of selling.

Luiz failed to train with the Blues first team this Wednesday, and is hopeful of pushing through a move to north London.

The Brazilian would set the Gunners back just £8million - much less than the £60million they were quoted to sign RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano.
