Arsenal agree deal for first summer transfer as Unai Emery begins spree

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli.

The Gunners have been keeping tabs on the Ituano forward who had a trial with Manchester United in 2017.

Barcelona have also been linked with a swoop for the 17-year-old but it is Arsenal who have reached an agreement to sign Martinelli, according to Brazilian outlet UOL.

Martinelli will officially make the switch to the Emirates when he turns 18 in June.

The north Londoners also beat off competition from a clutch of Brazilian sides uncluding Flamengo, Cruzeiro and Santos for the starlet's signature after month of detailed reports.

According to UOL, Martinelli was also offered to some of Arsenal's domestic rivals in the Premier League but no other offer from England was tabled.

Ituano were keen to keep a portion of Martinelli's economic rights but Arsenal did not entertain the idea.

Martinelli made his professional debut last year and scored six goals for Ituano in the Campeonato Paulista earlier in 2019.

He is capable of playing on either flank and would very much be a signing for the future under Unai Emery.
