Arsenal add former Bayern Munich stalwart Florian Bluchel to scouting team in bid to secure top German talent

Arsenal have bolstered their scouting department by hiring Florian Bluchel to keep an eye on talent in Germany.

Bluchel arrives at the club with an impressive CV, having previously worked at Bayern Munich for over a decade.

The German announced his move to Arsenal via the website LinkedIn, revealing he has been with the Gunners since October.

Bluchel has explained his role will be as “international first-team scout”, with his main focus being on the German market. He will aim to combine traditional live scouting methods with the use of a digital approach and video analysis.

While working at Bayern, Bluchel focused on the Spanish, Italian, Polish, Czech, USA and German transfer markets, adding he was “involved in all decision-making processes of targeting players for the first team and the academy”.

He is the latest recruit to the Arsenal scouting team, which was overhauled last year. The club let go of a number of scouts, including famed talent-spotter Francis Cagigao, as part of a restructuring.

Arsenal technical director Edu explained at the time that he wanted to work with a tight-knit recruitment department.
