Arsenal activate option to bring back 'next Zlatan' after key Mikel Arteta decision

Arsenal have activated the recall clause on Nikolaj Moller's contract with German side Viktoria Koln.

Moller had impressed at academy level with the Gunners since arriving from Swedish club Malmo in October 2020.

Despite making 13 appearances and scoring three goals in all competitions during his time at the club, Moller returns to Arsenal with reintegration into the Under-23's squad the most likely scenario.

The Gunners are currently short in numbers upfront with a number of players facing uncertain futures.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with Gabon, Eddie Nketiah could leave in January, while Alexandre Lacazette's contract expires in the summer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have made available several academy players for loan in January, football.london understands.

With so many players and just three competitions at senior level this season, the Gunners are struggling to get much senior game time for their youngsters.

George Lewis and Tim Akinola are also set for moves, with the latter playing the joint-most minutes for the under-23s last season.

The likes of Folarin Balogun, Tim Akinola, Zak Swanson, James Olayinka, Ben Cottrell and Ryan Alebiosu will all be allowed to leave on loan this month.
