Arsenal star Kieran Tierney has been praised for striking up an impressive partnership with Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson on Scotland duty.
The pair play in the same position at club level and debate on how Scotland can get the best from both the Arsenal and Liverpool men has always lingered.
Muirhouse's Tierney has slotted seamlessly into Steve Clarke's left-centre-back role in a 3-5-2 shape, allowing Scotland captain Robertson to operate in the role he works in at Liverpool.
Former Scotland striker Kris Boyd believes the perfect formula has been found. He reckons Tierney has figured out how to operate as a centre-back, while Robertson also knows what that entails.
"When you look at both of them now, they seem to understand each other," Boyd told Sky Sports.
"Maybe before they were getting caught out of position. Maybe if Kieran Tierney went forward, Andy Robertson wouldn't track back as much.
"Now, the understanding they have is unbelievable.
"The understanding they have all over the pitch is brilliant and you can see why the assists have come from that left-hand side."
Scotland beat Faroe Islands 1-0 on Tuesday in a World Cup 2022 qualifier, thanks to an 86th minute goal from Lyndon Dykes.
It retains Scotland's four-point hold on second place in qualification Group F and a World Cup play-off spot can be obtained with a win over Moldova next month.
