Arsenal and Scotland ace Kieran Tierney has opened up on his heroic national team moment as the Muirhouse man is praised across the country for his brilliant tackle in a 2-0 win over Moldova.
As the nation's World Cup 2022 qualification Group F opponents were awarded a late penalty, Scots goalkeeper Craig Gordon denied the Moldovans.
A rebound tap-in looked inevitable but the Arsenal defender got back to clear the danger. Nathan Patterson and Che Adams goals sealed the Scotland win which books a World Cup play-off spot for next year's winter tournament.
While focusing on the bigger picture, the Muirhouse star says he was so keen for Scotland to make it five wins on the spin when lunging for his tackle.
Tierney told the SFA's in-house media: "The tackle was just not wanting it to be a longer 10 minutes than it had to be. We want to get as many points as we can.
"It was great. We knew we needed to come over here and get the win. We did that. It could have been worse, it could have been a lot edgier at times.
"We played well, showed our intent to win, and got a clean sheet. I think you can see I really enjoy it. I was on the ball a lot.
"People were showing for me and there were a lot of options for me."
