Arsenal 3-0 Southampton: Gunners get back to winning ways with goals from Lacazette, Odegaard and Gabriel

Arsenal got back to winning ways with a comfortable win over Southampton at Emirates Stadium.

Two first-half goals in six minutes from Alexandre Lacazette and Martin Odegaard put the Gunners in control and Gabriel added a third in the second half.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was left out of the Arsenal squad for the game at Emirates Stadium due to what manager Mikel Arteta described as a “disciplinary breach”.

But, after back-to-back away defeats against Manchester United and Everton, this result was just what Arsenal needed to get back on track in the Premier League.

The win moves the Gunners above Tottenham and up to fifth in the table.

Arsenal went ahead on 21 minutes when Lacazette, stand-in captain for the day in the absence of Aubameyang, fired home from inside the area.

Odegaard doubled the lead with a header after 27 minutes and Gabriel headed a third after 62 minutes when 40-year-old Southampton debutant goalkeeper Willy Caballero made a mess of a corner.
