Arsenal manager Unai Emery says Granit Xhaka ‘was wrong’ for appearing to tell Gunners fans to “f*** off” after being subbed off at the Emirates.
Xhaka was booed by sections of the home support after Emery replaced his captain with Bukayo Saka in the second-half of Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
It provoked an extraordinary stand-off between the Arsenal midfielder and the supporters with Xhaka appearing to tell fans to "f*** off" before tearing off his shirt and disappearing down the tunnel.
Asked about his captain’s reaction, Emery told BBC Match of the Day: “He's wrong but we are going to speak inside about that situation.
"I want to be calm but, really, he was wrong in this action."
Sokratis Papastathopoulos and David Luiz struck within two minutes of each other to give the Gunners a commanding lead inside eight minutes.
But Palace got back in it thanks to a VAR intervention as Luka Milivojevic scored from the spot before Jordan Ayew's header in the second half rescued a point for the visitors.
