Arrochar hillwalkers fined after being rescued while flouting lockdown

Three hillwalkers were fined by police after they had to be rescued from the Cobbler over the weekend.

Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team were called out by police at 3.20pm on Sunday after the hikers got lost in the mists around the mountains in Argyll.

It emerged they had made a 50-mile journey from Motherwell to make the trip.

The volunteer rescue team managed to find all three of the walkers and led them down to safety.

Police officers met the trio at the bottom and explained the current rules on travel which forbids people making long distances to locations for non-essential travel.

They also fined them for breaking the lockdown restrictions.

On social media, Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team said it was there first callout since the lockdown began in March.
