Arrived in style! Wishes pour in as Yashasvi Jaiswal shines on debut

NEW DELHI: From selling pani puri and living in a tent on Mumbai maidans to a fairytale debut outing in West Indies, Yashasvi Jaiswal was a buzz on social media Thursday evening as the young batting sensation became just the third Indian opener to slam a ton on Test debut.

Playing his first international game, that too on foreign soil, Jaiswal fired a commanding century to put India in pole position in the first Test in Dominica.

As the 21-year-old ended the day on an unbeaten 143, wishes poured in from all quarters, lauding the terrific effort from the stylish left hander.

With his first international ton, Yashasvi also became the 17th Indian batsman to score a hundred on Test debut.

The most recent player to accomplish this feat was Shreyas Iyer, who achieved the landmark in 2021 against New Zealand in Kanpur.

At the close of play on Day 2, India were 312/2, leading the hosts by 162 runs.
