Arriva driver stops bus after spotting toddler 'wandering streets alone'

An Arriva driver was hailed a 'hero' by members of the public after pulling over his bus when he saw a toddler in the street wandering alone.

In a post shared on Facebook, a passer-by claims the Arriva driver pulled over the 407 West Kirkby service, despite it being full of passengers, when he saw the young child.

After spotting the child, at around 8am this morning, the driver then got off the bus, put his coat around the toddler and sat him on the bus until police arrived.

The passerby wrote on Facebook: "A big well done to this bus driver who at 8am despite having passengers stopped his bus when he saw a toddler walking around alone... put his coat around him and sat him on the bus until police arrived.

"This is not being judgemental to any parents but an acknowledgement to this great man.

"Please share so he hopefully gets the credit he deserves."

The circumstances surrounding the child being found are not known.

The Facebook post was met with a huge response online with many commenting and sharing the amazing actions of the bus driver.

One person wrote: “Amazing, there is still good people in the world."

Another said: " All credit to the driver, great thing to do."

People even took to tagging Arriva North West in the post to ensure the driver was given the "credit he deserves" by the company.

One woman wrote: "Good man that is what you call service. God bless you."

Meanwhile one person added: "Well done driver. Credit to your company."

Arriva was approached for comment.
